The Performance Promise
What we promise
Every Ironside filter is built to a specification. If it doesn't perform to that specification, we replace it or refund you. No paperwork, no inspection fee, no runaround.
The 90-Day Performance Guarantee
When you install an Ironside filter, it should:
- Capture the percentage of airborne particulate listed on the product page (95–99% depending on MERV rating, per ASHRAE 52.2 testing)
- Hold its shape and seal in any standard return-air slot
- Last the full replacement interval stated for its MERV rating under normal residential conditions
If any of those three fails inside the first 90 days of installation, email support@getironside.com with your order number and a short description of what went wrong. We replace the filter at no cost and pay return shipping if we want the old one back for QA.
What's covered
- Manufacturing defects (torn media, missing or loose wire backing, dimensional faults, separated frame)
- Early collapse or premature loading not caused by abnormal home conditions (e.g., active construction dust, smoke, or pet over-population)
- Filters that arrive damaged in transit
- Wrong MERV or wrong size shipped by us
What's not covered
- Normal wear after the replacement interval has passed
- Damage caused by improper installation (folded media, undersized filter forced into a larger slot)
- HVAC system damage of any kind — air filters are a consumable, not a system component (see Limitations below)
- Custom or fractional sizes installed in a slot they were not measured for
A note on HVAC system damage
We hear this question every week, so here it is plainly: an air filter is the cheapest part of your HVAC system. It can extend the life of more expensive parts by trapping particulate before it reaches them, but no filter — Ironside or otherwise — can be held responsible for the failure of a blower motor, evaporator coil, or any other HVAC component.
If your system was already failing or undersized, a high-MERV filter can accelerate the failure by adding static pressure. That's why we ask about your system on the Find My Filter tool before recommending MERV 13+.
If you're unsure what your system can handle, talk to a licensed HVAC technician first, or email us with your model number and we'll point you to a safe MERV range.
