What size filter does a Goodman furnace use?
Goodman systems use standard nominal sizes — there’s no proprietary Goodman filter. Check the size printed on the current filter’s frame, or measure the slot: common sizes are 20x20x1, 20x25x1 and 16x25x1.
Where is the filter on a Goodman system?
Either behind the return grille on a wall or ceiling, or in a slot where the return duct meets the air handler. Some homes have both — if so, use the air-handler slot and leave the grille empty or use both at lower MERV.
What MERV rating should I use in a Goodman?
MERV 8 covers everyday dust. Go 10–12 for pets and allergies, 13 for smoke and finer particles. Goodman blowers handle MERV 13 fine in a clean, correctly sized slot changed every 90 days.
