Carrier Air Filters: Sizes & Replacements
Quick answer: Most Carrier furnaces and air handlers take standard 1-inch filters at the return — measure the slot and find your size. Carrier EZ Flex and Infinity air purifier cabinets take dedicated media (EXPXXFIL / GAPCCCAR series) with a nonstandard footprint; we don't currently stock those, and a standard 5-inch media won't seal in them — use the cabinet-specific part.

What size filter does a Carrier furnace take?
If the filter slides into a 1-inch slot at the return, it takes standard nominal sizes — 16x25x1 and 20x25x1 are the most common. Measure your old filter’s printed size or the slot itself.
Can I use a generic filter in a Carrier EZ Flex cabinet?
Only media cut to the EZ Flex footprint seals correctly — its actual depth differs from standard 5-inch media. We tell you this straight because a badly sealed filter is worse than a cheap one: use the cabinet-specific part.
What MERV rating should I run in a Carrier system?
MERV 8 for basic dust, MERV 10–12 for pets and allergies, MERV 13 for smoke and finer particles. Modern Carrier blowers handle MERV 13 in 1-inch slots if you change on schedule every 90 days.
